What Latin America's HNWIs Really Want from Europe
From Brazil's boardrooms to Mexico City's private clubs, a new generation of HNWIs and UHNWIs is proving that Europe remains the undisputed stage for status, culture, and connection—but only if these experiences are delivered authentically.
Latin American travellers today aren't chasing souvenirs; they're chasing meaning.
A Market on the Move
The numbers tell a compelling story. The global luxury travel market reached $1.38 trillion in 2023 and is projected to grow at 7.6% annually until 2031. In Brazil alone, the sector is valued at R$80 billion (approx. $14.6 billion USD), with forecasts pointing to R$130 billion (approx. $23.8 billion USD) by 2030 (ILTM & PANROTAS Annual Luxury Travel Report 2024/25). Crucially, wealthy travellers—just 20% of the total market—drive 50% of global travel expenditure, making them a key audience to watch.
Outbound luxury spend from Brazil has grown by 35% year-on-year, with France, Portugal and Italy consistently topping the list of preferred European destinations. This isn't a coincidence of colonial history or convenient flight paths—it reflects a deeper cultural resonance that Europe uniquely offers Latin American elites.

Culture Is the Currency
According to Data Appeal's 2026 Tourism Intelligence Report released in August, cultural heritage, the arts and local traditions account for a striking 40.3% of travel motivations among Latin Americans (LATAM) visiting Europe—nearly triple the next closest driver, gastronomy (12.5%). Family travel (11.9%) and shopping (11.8%) round out the top motivations, but the message is clear: today's LATAM traveller isn't chasing souvenirs. They're chasing meaning.

This shift toward meaningful travel signifies that affluent LATAM travellers view travel as an extension of identity and intellectual enrichment. Rather than passive sightseeing, they seek emotional resonance through immersion: access to private family-owned vineyards, exclusive after-hours gallery access, and multi-generational storytelling.
Latin American travellers today are seeking emotional resonance through immersion: storytelling, and private and exclusive access.
This desire for deeper connection translates directly into regions such as the European Alps. Historically viewed primarily as ski hubs, Alpine destinations offer rich cultural traditions that align perfectly with LATAM HNWIs, whatever the season.
Wealthy Latin American families actively seek year-round Alpine immersions, such as private stays in historic centuries-old chalets, personal guided high-altitude culinary tours celebrating regional mountain cheeses and wines, private classical concerts in remote Alpine chapels, and artisan workshops preserving mountain heritage.
The Alps are the ideal setting for multi-generational bonding.
Moreover, because 27.5% of trips are family-driven (Data Appeal, August 2026), the Alps provide an ideal private retreat where multi-generational family bonding seamlessly meets nature, privacy, and living culture.
Leading Spanish and Italian regional destinations together capture 54.2% of all stays generated by the five leading Latin American source markets (Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Brazil and Chile) in 2025. Yet the most telling shift is happening beyond the obvious hotspots. Apulia has nearly doubled its stays since 2023, Galicia has grown by 21.3%, and Budapest's Pest district is up 19.2%—proof that discerning travellers are actively seeking the road less travelled.

Designing the Standout Destination
As Carlos Cendra, Chief Marketing Officer at Data Appeal, noted in August 2026: "Europe benefits from a structural advantage built on its heritage, diversity and cultural depth, attributes that naturally resonate with Latin American travellers. However, the European destinations that will stand out are those that can better design and deliver experiences for these travellers."
Discerning travellers are actively seeking the road less travelled.
What this means in practice is that geographical charm alone is no longer enough. Emerging hotspots like Apulia, Galicia, and the Alpine valleys are outperforming established capitals because they actively tailor destination architecture to LATAM expectations.
Slow Travel, Deep Investment
Perhaps most revealing is the travel profile itself: LATAM travellers book an average of 72.7 days in advance and spend 14.5 days exploring the continent—notably longer than most trips with Asian travellers, who tend to have fewer leave days a year as well as a multitude of short-haul destinations to explore. This suggests a more long-term view and more planning when it comes to the average LATAM traveller.
Couples (40.6%) and families (27.5%) in particular dominate demand, together representing more than two-thirds of trips, signalling that these are relationship-driven, multi-generational journeys rather than solo status exercises.
Latin America's HNWIs want privacy, cultural depth, and bespoke micro-itineraries that blend heritage with hidden-gem destinations. This is where Revamont's native expertise becomes indispensable. Our deep-rooted knowledge of the Alpine region—cultivated through generations of local relationships across Switzerland, Austria, Italy and beyond—allows us to unlock experiences no guidebook or generic itinerary could ever offer: private mountain sanctuaries, artisan cheesemakers passing down centuries-old craft, or exclusive access to hidden valleys reserved for those who know where to look.
Revamont's Experience Host is exclusively dedicated to each travelling group to ensure seamless service and native knowledge of the most authentic experiences the region has to offer.
Crucially, every journey is guided by the dedicated Experience Host assigned exclusively to each group, ensuring seamless, white-glove service from the moment of arrival to departure. The Host is the single point of trusted contact who understands the nuances of privacy, pacing, and personalisation that HNWI families from Brazil, Mexico and beyond have come to expect.
Whether it's a private château visit in the Loire, an artisan culinary immersion in Apulia, or a private chalet retreat in the Swiss Alps, the opportunity lies in curating experiences that honour both legacy and discovery.
